We’ve been really busy these past few weeks with moving out of a rental house whilst renovating and moving into our first purchased home. Exciting and all-consuming days, trying to juggle family life and the logistics of labour – trying to find the balance of keeping our own work projects and income going, but also doing as much of the hard work as we can so that we’re not having to pay others to do it.
Unfortunately, my blog has been one of the ‘non-essentials’ that has fallen off the list of productivity these last few weeks. I’m sorry little blog.
But for a brief moment, as the rain pours down and I find a quick reprieve in the workload, I’m quickly posting a few noteworthy events that have been on the go since the beginning of October.
The first of which is the Salvo’s latest initiative to ‘take the challenge’ and go a whole month without buying anything new.
Buying nothing new doesn’t mean going without.
By making a ‘buy nothing new month’ pledge you can beg, buy, barter and swap for whatever you need, as long as it is pre-loved. With the exceptions of necessities (including food, drink, medications and hygiene products) you can’t buy anything new.
If this is the first you’ve heard of it, it’s still not too late to give it a go… help slow the frock up by making do with what you already have. Have a rummage through your wardrobe; look through magazines or favourite sites to gain inspiration for looks you like that you may be able to recreate, and if you get stuck, you can always call on me for a more concerted effort. I can help you shop within your own wardrobe.
However you choose to do it, I encourage you wholeheartedly to give it a go!
